Audrey LI is a visual artist working in film photography and realistic landscape painting

born in Paris March 29th 2005
There's a patience to capturing on film that nothing digital can replicate. In a world where everything is fast paced, film taught me to replenish in the silence of waiting to relive moments I had forgotten, the way painting does with feelings I never had words for.

For years I simply received what was given so freely by the wild world, the mountain already shaped and the light already falling as it pleased. I mistook that gift for my own making. I find myself wanting, at last, to give something back, rendered in whatever small way might do its beauty justice.

I grew up in Paris and left as often as I could. I've never liked the idea of needing an address, what an odd thing, to be settled. Mostly I find what I'm looking for while wandering, in places unfamiliar enough to demand my full attention, quietly discovering each time an unfamiliar version of myself.

I started painting as a kid, back when wanting an artistic life got you told it wasn't reliable enough to count as a real one. It took many others showing me otherwise before I let myself believe I could too.
